Our Mission

We save employers more on benefits, so they can do more for their people.

Mission-centered Growth

One employee and innovation at a time, Apex has developed unmatched capabilities to reduce benefits costs for employers and increase health care accessibility for employees and their families.

Our operating principal: what’s good enough for today, is not good enough for tomorrow.

In the spirit of continuous improvement, we are committed to reinvesting in our people, processes and technology to future proof the vital investment employers make in their health benefits.

The Apex Story

Our History at a Glance

For more than 20 years, our strategists have successfully guided companies, communities, schools and non-profits through an ever-evolving health care and regulatory landscape. We have seen significant growth, and countless changes, but we are proud that some things have not and will never change.

We are united around a singular vision — to simplify a complex industry and help organizations improve their competitive positions with group benefits plans that will save them money while improving their members’ health and wellbeing.

Noteworthy Milestones

Our organization has countless memories of the past two decades. But a few milestones on the timeline stand out from the rest.

We have maintained a trajectory of rapid growth through fierce independence, allowing us to invest in solutions, ease clients’ burden and mitigate risk to prevent negative financial impacts and disruptions to their employees’ lives.

CEO John F. Gause founds Apex Benefits with one mission: save clients more on their benefits, so they can do more for their people.

Apex leads clients through the impacts of the Affordable Care Act with a dedicated task force and a partnership with Milliman. Today the Compliance Department ensures our clients are proactively protected from risk.

Apex establishes its Population Health Practice. This in-house team of nurses, financial analysts and clinicians drive industry leading savings with predictive analytics, workplace wellness and medical claim surveillance.

Apex launches its Pharmacy Benefits Practice. Prescription drugs continue to be one of the most complicated aspects of employee benefits and our team brings clarity and savings.

Apex unveils an updated brand that represents its bold culture. We move into our new world headquarters in Indianapolis to better position ourselves to meet our clients' needs for the long term and accommodate continued growth.

Apex acquires InnovativeRx Strategies, vastly expanding our pharmacy capabilities and industry leadership. We provide unrivaled expertise to combat the rising cost of providing pharmacy benefits.
