New full-time employees can accrue up to 15 days paid time off (PTO), consisting of vacation, sick and personal days. PTO rolls over continually. However, PTO accrual is capped once you have reached your PTO accrual maximum, which varies based on years of service; so employees are encouraged to use their earned time off before they stop accruing. Additionally, employees receive a paid VTO day — Volunteer Time Off — to serve their cause or organization of choice.
Why we volunteer
Advisor Jason Clemons and Little Red Door
Jason Clemons, an advisor at Apex, volunteers his time at Little Red Door Cancer Agency, a non-profit that works to reduce the physical, emotional and financial burdens of cancer to Hoosiers.
Why Little Red Door?
I chose Little Red Door because my family was directly affected and impacted by cancer.
What is something you took away after volunteering there?
My biggest take away was the amount of time, effort, preparation and thought that they put into making these individuals’ lives better. Whether it’s providing basic needs, family opportunities or social innovation, they leave no stone unturned when it comes to ideas to help these individuals.
What did you enjoy most about volunteering at Little Red Door? Would you recommend it to someone?
Yes, I would definitely recommend someone to volunteer there. I most enjoyed seeing the entire process of what they do and how they do it and know I was helping to make an impact on a very important topic.
