Good news – this isn’t a requirement for success! Using the Plate Method is a great way to ensure you’re getting a well-balanced meal every time. Here’s what your healthy plate should include:

Non-Starchy Vegetables and Fruit [1/2 Plate]:  Fruit and non-starchy vegetables include things like apples, berries, leafy greens, brussels sprouts, peppers, squash and more! The variety of colors provides a vast array of vitamins and minerals. Plus, the high water and fiber content help regulate appetite!

Whole Grains [1/4 Plate]: Whole grains include options like brown rice, whole wheat bread, quinoa, oats, barley, and more! Whole grains are a great source of fiber, which helps regulate cholesterol and digestion.

Lean Protein [1/4 Plate]: Lean proteins such as poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and lentils help us feel fuller for longer and maintain, repair, and build muscle. Plus, protein is a source of B vitamins, iron, zinc and other minerals!

Low-Fat Dairy [1 Serving]: Low-fat dairy items like milk, Greek yogurt, and cheese are a great source of calcium, vitamin D, protein and potassium. These nutrients help us build and maintain bone mass throughout the lifetime.

Healthy Fats [Use Sparingly]: Healthy fats include olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocados, fish and more. These can help lower bad cholesterol and have a protective effect on the heart. But be careful – too much can lead to excess calorie intake!

Next time you build your plate, keep this method in mind![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row”][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1565809022703{padding-top: 3% !important;padding-bottom: 4% !important;background-color: #efefef !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
