Finding Free Prescription Drugs and Services

Prescription drug prices are the highest they’ve ever been in the United States. According to Bloomberg, Americans spend an average of about $1,200 per person per year, which is more than anyone else in the world.

It can be stressful when you or a loved one needs medication because the price tag can be alarmingly high. Every pharmacy is different when it comes to prescription drug prices and services.

Here are examples of local pharmacies that have free or highly discounted prices for common prescriptions and services.

  • Meijer Pharmacy – Meijer has a free prescriptions list. Some antibiotics and prenatal vitamins are free to customers, regardless of insurance or co-pay. National health experts say that 40 percent of children who see a physician, leave with a prescription. Many of the antibiotics prescribed to children are on this list!
  • Kroger Pharmacy – Kroger offers free crutch rental for those in need of short-term crutches. Also, signing up for the Kroger Prescription Savings Club could significantly cut prescriptions cost or make them free!
  • GoodRx – Looking up your prescriptions on the GoodRx website can help you find the lowest cost for your medications. GoodRx does the shopping around for you by comparing pharmacy prices to give you the cheapest place to buy your prescriptions. The website is completely free to use as well!

With prescription drug prices skyrocketing, consumers are looking for the cheapest or free options. We all might need medication at some point, so it’s important to know the resources to be cost-effective.
