Bringing your best self to work. Woman in business attire flexing her arms

Workplace wellness is a shared responsibility. By taking care of ourselves and advocating for wellness initiatives in the workplace, we can all help create a healthier, happier work environment.

For many of us, work is a big part of our lives. In fact, we spend a significant amount of our time at our workplace. Given this, it’s important to discuss the concept of workplace wellness. After all, how we feel at work can have a significant impact on our overall well-being.

But what exactly is workplace wellness? It refers to any initiative that promotes the health and well-being of employees in the workplace. This can include everything from offering healthy snacks in the break room to providing gym memberships, and even mental health support.

However, it’s important to note that workplace wellness is not just the responsibility of the employer. As individuals, we also have a role to play in promoting our own well-being at work. Here are some tips to help you bring your best self to work:

  • Take care of yourself outside of work – Getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, and exercising regularly can all help improve your overall well-being, which in turn can have a positive impact on your performance at work.
  • Identify what brings you joy – Think about the things you do outside of work that bring you happiness and try to find ways to replicate them in the workplace. This could be anything from organizing your workspace to bringing in photos or decorations that make you feel good.
  • Establish boundaries – It’s important to set boundaries between work and your personal life. This can help you manage your time effectively, prioritize your tasks, and avoid burnout.
  • Advocate for workplace wellness initiatives – If you feel that your workplace could benefit from a particular wellness initiative, speak up! Your HR team may be open to new ideas that can help improve employee well-being.

At Apex, we take workplace wellness seriously. We have several initiatives in place to help support our employees’ well-being, including regular wellness challenges, healthy snacks in the break room, and even an occasional visit from some furry friends.

Remember, workplace wellness is a shared responsibility. By taking care of ourselves and advocating for wellness initiatives in the workplace, we can all help create a healthier, happier work environment.
