The Line – July 2017

When you think Apex, you most often think about a peak, summit, or pinnacle – an object reaching the highest point along its path. The Line this object travels is typically the most efficient & effective path possible. We’re in the business of earning trust from prospective clients and, subsequently, pulling through on promises for clients. Meet the people who take The Line on behalf of our clients.

How do you relax? I love to bake. I’m half Italian, and my Italian grandmother made homemade biscotti, strudel, and wonderful cookies. She taught me growing up, and it has continued to be a passion of mine. At last year’s Apex company picnic, I won the dessert bake off. I’m planning to retain that title again this year in July.

What is an important message you like to share with others? Organ donation! My step mother-in-law was a heart transplant recipient, and my husband is a pilot for Indiana Donor Network. Nearly 1,500 Hoosiers and more than 120,000 people nationwide are waiting for life-saving organ transplants. In the U.S., another person is added to the transplant waiting list every 10 minutes. You can register your decision to be an organ and tissue donor online at, at a Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) branch or by filling out a written donor registration form. Please share your decision with your family and make a life giving difference.

What do few people know about you? I attended the last Elvis Presley concert. It is a long story, but my grandmother was a huge fan. I was young, but I do remember the concert.

Favorite Quote? “Family is not an important thing, it’s Everything”  – Micheal J. Fox  I have 5 siblings, 17 nieces and nephews and the majority of them go to the same community school. There are not many times that you won’t find an entire cheer section at a sporting event of one of the kids. Aside from spending a lot of evenings and weekends together, each year we schedule a weekend to go on a family camping trip. We rent 12-15 campsites and spend the entire weekend watching outdoor movies, playing games, canoeing, and relaxing and bonding together. The bond that we have as a family is incredible and something that I will always cherish. I believe family time is something that you have to teach your children from an early age to ensure they value the true meaning of family.

Favorite Pastime? I started crafting over a year ago creating designs for shirts and hats. That ended up moving into creating designs for water bottles and decals for softball/baseball helmets. Today, I have a nice small business doing glass etching, stainless steel etching, and sandblasting. I also continue to design shirts, hats, and decals. My love for crafts has grown over the past year and I have realized that the sky is the limit when you open your mind to all the possibilities and try things out of your comfort zone.  “If you don’t get uncomfortable leaving your comfort zone then you haven’t really left it.” – unknown

Ownership and Work? When I think of coming into work each day, I don’t think of it as a “job”.  I do believe that although you work for a company, you have to have a sense of ownership in that company to be successful personally and professionally. I try and put the same love and dedication into my work in the office as I do when I leave the office each day. I love Apex because I get as much back from Apex and my team as I give. Always remember, you reap what you sow. Make sure it’s good and that is what you will get back in return.

Do you have any hidden talents/skills? I’d like to say I have skills with Golf. My home course is Maple Creek Country club and currently have a 6 handicap. I also am known to tickle the ivories. I was forced to take piano lessons as a child. I’m happy I did. I enjoy sitting down and playing the piano and at the same time exposing my children to dying arts.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve traveled? I’ve traveled out of the country several times, but I would have to say the most interesting place I travel is the Indy 500! There is always something interesting to see there!

What’s your favorite meal? Meatloaf! I make a mean meatloaf. Not good for you physically, but good for the Soul! Ground Round, Salt, Pepper, worcestershire, egg, saltines, and tomato sauce. Form into a loaf, then cut up mozzarella cheese sticks into little nuggets. Now hide them throughout the meatloaf so random bites have Cheese Explosion in your mouth! Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees, then top with ketchup and brown sugar and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
