John F. Gause has been a leader and visionary in the benefits industry for more than 35 years. He founded Apex Benefits, Indiana’s largest health and welfare benefits firm dedicated exclusively to employer group insurance, in 2003. He continues to lead strategic innovation and business development activities.

In leadership, development and consulting roles with national insurance firms prior to Apex, he saw recurringly that employers were not realizing the greatest value possible from their benefits investments. To this day, the Apex mission is to deliver employers the most competitive benefits programs possible to affect employee recruitment and retention – at the most reasonable cost.

John is a civic-minded businessman committed to investing time and resources in institutions that impact social causes including food insecurity, childhood health and access to quality education. He is passionate about serving organizations like Beyond Monumental, IPS Foundation, Holy Family Shelter, Gleaners Food Bank and the Catholic Youth Organization, a ministry of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, where he volunteers as a football coach.

A life-long Indiana resident and proud supporter of life-enriching, homegrown nonprofits like the 500 Festival, he is an active alumnus of Scecina Memorial High School. He graduated from Saint Joseph’s College with degrees in finance and economics. John and his wife Jennifer proudly support the many activities of their three teenage children.
