The importance, impact and burden of providing employee benefits continues to increase for employers. As a principal and as Apex’s chief operating officer, Jim leads Apex Benefit’s team of benefits strategists whose mission it is to help those who feel responsible for employee benefits succeed in their efforts to create a culture of health for employees and their families while reducing the cost of providing employee benefits. 

 

His primary responsibility is ensuring Apex remains an innovative, disruptive leader in the benefits marketplace. As the creator of the Pharmacy Benefits Consulting solution at Apex and as chief operating officer of Apex’s national consulting firm, Innovative Rx Strategies, Jim is deeply invested in ensuring affordable access to prescription medications. 

Jim has over 30 years of health care experience, both as an executive with Eli Lilly and Company and at Apex Benefits. His experience navigating the relationship between pharmaceutical manufacturers, health insurers and pharmacy benefit managers brings unique perspectives on drug costs and creates opportunities for employers to reduce costs and enhance their pharmacy benefit. He has tremendous experience in health care data & analytics, process improvement, organizational design, human resource support, sales and marketing, communications and strategic planning which he applies in service to all Apex and Innovative Rx clients.

Jim lives in Indianapolis with his wife, Marci, and their two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, attending vintage car shows and working on hands-on home improvement projects. He and his family are avid racing fans, especially enjoying the month of May in Indy and traveling to watch IndyCar races. In the community, Jim primarily volunteers his time with the Crooked Creek Food Pantry and Gleaners to serve our neighbors affected by food insecurity.
