Grace joined Apex Benefits in May 2022 as a sales and marketing intern. She is going into her senior year at Indiana University where she is studying media advertising.
Intern Spotlight: Grace Brenton
When I first came into Apex, I had no idea what to expect. I was terrified and nervous. Luckily, I was partnered with Kelsie James, who quickly became a new best friend of mine. Apex is not only a place that wants to help people, but it’s also one, big happy family. My second day was a monthly Huddle day. It was the most welcoming, inspiring and happy day.
As my internship comes to a close, I am tremendously excited to attend my last year of college. I was scared going into my senior year, not knowing what was to come – nor did I have any idea what I wanted to do regarding my career. However, this internship has given me confidence going into my senior year, feeling prepared to take on the challenges that come my way.
I have learned so many excellent skills from working at Apex. I have become more organized, more “tech savvy” and learned how to write in AP Style, which I never have thought I would do. I am grateful for all the special connections I have made working through Apex.
There are two people I must thank in this article: first, Brittany DeWeese for being the greatest role model and leader throughout my journey through Apex and the rest of the Marketing team. Finally, John Gause for passing along my name to consider me as a candidate for this position. Without both of you, I would not have had this amazing opportunity.
One of my favorite memories at Apex is of becoming friends with Kelsie James. I never thought I would be able to create a friendship with someone I have so much in common with. However, without Kelsie, I do not think I would have had the confidence I had with all our projects.
I thank all the Apex community for giving me one of the greatest opportunities I have ever received. I will miss you all dearly but will always consider you all family.
Thank you, Grace, for bringing your positive attitude and great ideas to Apex. Good luck in all your future endeavors. We will miss you!
