Intern Spotlight

Intern Spotlight: Evan Hamby

I heard about Apex’s internship program through my mom who knew Apex Director of Marketing Margaret Osborn from high school. After hearing about the internship, I did some research and found that this would be the perfect fit for me. I was seeking a program where I could learn as much as possible, and Apex had a lot to teach me!

While at Apex I worked on various projects including blog curation, strategic communication development, social media management, event coordination, client engagement, market research, consulting for external clients and more. Above all, I gained great experience working with a team of skilled professionals working toward a common goal.

This internship will help me tremendously when it comes to finishing my last year of school and finding a job. I have real-world experience working in a marketing department which will help me in all my marketing projects for the upcoming school year. Having this experience has also given me lots to talk about when it’s time to interview for full-time positions after graduation. Coming into my internship with Apex, I admittedly did not have much marketing experience to reference in interviews. Now I feel like I have a great list of accomplishments to show off my skills.

Some of my favorite things about working at Apex: the people and the leadership.

The people at Apex made me feel so welcomed when I started my internship in May – and they have continued to make me feel at home. I enjoy seeing everyone’s smiling faces every day and have made so many new friends during my time here. Apex really values their employees, and everyone is treated like family here. Additionally, my manager has trusted me with so many cool projects I never thought I would be able to do as an intern, and I am thankful for those experiences. All the leaders at Apex have a lot of trust in their employees and I think that is super important to any successful work environment.

One of the most memorable moments from my internship was getting to bond with the Marketing team during our recent team building outing. I have enjoyed getting to know all my co-workers in the Marketing department – and throughout this experience I have felt like I am part of the team. It was so much fun getting to bond and hang out with my co-workers all while doing some awesome activities. I will miss everyone at Apex so much!

Thank you, Evan, for all of your great contributions to Apex this summer. Good luck as you head back to Ball State for your senior year. We will miss you!
