Updated Mask Recommendation
With the latest information being updated from the CDC yesterday how are employers responding? Employers may want to consider providing their employees with a series of informative questions to assist the employee in deciding whether they should mask up while at work.
The CDC’s COVID Data Tracker specifies areas where the virus is spreading by county. The map color-codes each county from blue (the lowest level of community transition) to red (the highest level of community transition). The agency suggests individuals living in counties that are orange or red mask up indoors.
For example, the health departments are advising residents to consider the following when deciding to wear a mask indoors:
- Are there potentially unvaccinated people in this space?
- Is this an indoor space?
- Am I (or those who I live with) at higher risk for complications from COVID-19?
- Is the current case rate in my county at an Orange or Red level according to the CDC?
If the answer to three of more of those questions is “yes,” then health departments are recommending wearing a mask.
Employers should assist in creating an environment where employees feel comfortable in wearing a mask and will receive no retaliation (teasing, harassment etc.) for wearing a mask. Employers will want to continue to monitor the COVID tracker for the most up to date information in their area.
That’s what employers are asking us. If you have a question you want to be answered, email us at email@example.com.
