The CDC revised its mask guidelines, saying that fully-vaccinated people no longer needed to wear masks in public depending on certain situations.

So, that means we’ve been asked questions about masks.

What about masks in the workplace?

First, this isn’t legal advice. Also, start with the law. You need to review your state and local guidelines.

For example, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett on Wednesday said that Marion County would be lifting the mask mandate on June 7. At the same time, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb lifted the statewide mask mandate early last month.

Therefore, if you are a business inside Marion County, you still need to abide by the Marion County guidelines for the time being.

The CDC also defines who is fully-vaccinated and those who are not. With that mind, it’s important to remember some folks may still wear a mask despite being fully-vaccinated. This could be because of a health condition, a doctor’s recommendation, or personal choosing.

It’s important to treat those who may continue to wear a mask with respect, along with those who have decided to get vaccinated and those who have not.

Again, review your state and local guidelines regarding the mask mandate. Also, you should review your business strategy. I’d encourage you to do a blind survey with your employees to grasp their thoughts on masks in the workplace. That will help make them feel safe and secure in their work environment.
