More than 130 attendees – both in-person and virtually – attended Apex Benefits’ reveal event for the 2021 Indiana Employee Benefits Benchmarking Survey Report on Thursday, July 8. Apex Chief Operating Officer Jim Harenberg, CPBS (pictured above) and Apex Vice President of Client Engagement Amber Chittenden presented the Report findings.
Attendees also heard from Keynote Speaker Kimble Richardson, M.S., LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, LCAC, Business Development Manager with Community Health Network Behavioral Health. Kimble discussed the importance of mental health, and why it has become more critical than ever for employers ensure their workers are looked after as they continue to emerge from the disruption of the pandemic.
Apex highlighted key data points discovered through the nearly 300 survey participants. Of note, the data showed healthcare costs in Indiana are still significantly higher compared to the rest of the country.
Our survey also showed 53% of Indiana employers offered multiple health plan options for their employees, and a gradual shift toward HDHP plans over PPO plans. However, there was also decreases in certain benefit offerings such as dental, short-term disability and long-term disability when comparing to 2019’s data.
The data showed wellness programs and mental health resources became more of a priority going into 2021 as we saw a 15% increase in the number of employers who provided resources for employees.
Attendees were delivered other key highlights in the two-hour presentation. Those same highlights can be found in the Executive Summary of the 2021 Indiana Employee Benefits Benchmarking Survey Report.
